Muskox Health Ecology Symposium

We invite you to join us for the Muskox Health Ecology Symposium, November 7-10, 2016, at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Calgary, Foothills Campus.

The goal of this symposium is to share knowledge on muskox health ecology and sustainability across a variety of stakeholders including community members/users, industry, wildlife management, conservation, and academia.

We view "health" in its broadest sense as a dynamic and adaptive process to cope with cumulative changes, which drive the population vulnerability and resilience over time (Hanisch et al., 2012; Stephen, 2014).

We will discuss the value of muskoxen, status and trends, vulnerabilities and resilience, determinants of health, knowledge gaps, and tools for monitoring and research.

This symposium is an initiative of the ArcticNet funded project "Monitoring and managing muskox health for food security and ecosystem and socio-economic resilience: integrating traditional, local, and scientific knowledge" and the CBMP MoxNet
