Join us as we celebrate the ice in our lives and our communities with the Arctic Institute of North America from the University of Calgary.

Experience life inside an Inuit Sod House and Thule Whalebone House with their ancient artifacts through this virtual reality experience.

Ever wanted to build your own igloo in the safety of the great indoors? Here’s your chance to find out about the engineering behind these snow structures and re-create your own warmer version of these cozy digs.
6:00-9:30 | Mad Spearing Skills | Atrium
Re-create a spear-throwing game practiced by the Inuit youth of Arviat in Nunavut. Use replica spears to try your skills and learn firsthand if you’ve got the skills to hit targets while sitting in a kayak.

Inuit snow goggles, a stone ulu, a musk-ox skull and a polar bear pelt are just some of the amazing things lurking in the artifact storage rooms of the Arctic Institute offices. Come handle these incredible objects that tell the story of living in the ice and snow in Canada.
